This was the main office of the mansion — the headquarters where Don Juan Antonio handled important affairs, such as building the Querétaro Aqueduct and, at the same time, figuring out how to catch the attention of the nun he admired. It’s said that the true treasure of the family wasn’t gold, but something hidden behind one of these immense hunting tapestries.

It wasn’t money, but a blacklist with the names of everyone who had offended him, their debts, and — most importantly — the name of Sister Clarisa and the real reason he requested the Aqueduct. They say that if you stay very still, especially near the great tapestry, you can sometimes hear a faint whisper in old Spanish. Don’t worry — it’s not a ghost, it’s the Marquis himself, deciding whether to add your name to the list… or pour you a drink.
