Amealco is renowned throughout Mexico for its handcrafted dolls, particularly the famous "Muñecas Otomíes" or "Lele Dolls." These colorful, hand-sewn dolls are made by local artisans, mostly indigenous women, using vibrant fabrics and intricate embroidery that reflect the region’s cultural heritage. The dolls have gained international recognition and have become a symbol of Mexican folk art, with "Lele," the traditional doll, even declared a cultural heritage of Querétaro.

Beyond dolls, Amealco is a vibrant center for a variety of other handicrafts. The town’s markets are filled with pottery, textiles, wooden toys, and embroidered clothing, all crafted by skilled local artisans who have passed down their techniques through generations. Visitors can explore these markets to find unique, handmade souvenirs while supporting the local economy.
