The Leyend of

Maximiliano & Carlota

It is said that this was the last truly happy room Maximilian and Carlota shared in Mexico, before fate turned against them near Cerro de las Campanas.

According to legend, knowing that their destiny was already sealed, Carlota secretly sewed a small bad-luck charm into the upholstery of one of the chairs — to ensure that if she ever returned to Europe, her spirit could still keep watch over her husband.

That’s why, if someone enters this suite feeling overly confident, the vanity mirror fogs slightly, and the echo of a sigh can be heard — a gentle reminder that being an emperor in Mexico never ends well. If, on the other hand, you’re about to pursue bold plans, Carlota will cheer you on, but Maximilian will quietly suggest you bring a plan B… just in case.
